Athenascope vs. Clipbot - Twitch Clips

Athenascope vs Clipbot

If you’re looking to make twitch clips, especially to upload to TikTok or YouTube shorts, you’ve probably come across Athenascope and Clipbot.

Athenascope is one of, if not the best automatic clipping tool for streamers. Clipbot is one of the best tools for automatically uploading twitch clips to TikTok/YouTube.

So is one better than the other? What do they each do?

Athenascope and Clipbot are very different tools, and what you should use depends on your goal.

Athenascope automatically creates clips/highlights of your streams. It uses a lot of AI/Machine Learning to detect when you get kill streaks, when you win games, stuff like that.

If you want to make cool YouTube videos with a bunch of highlights of your games without much effort, Athenascope is an amazing and FREE tool, that you should absolutely use. Very few other pieces of software can do what they do.

An important note, though, is that Athenascope will only clip good gameplay, which means, often, it will miss out on clips that would be funny or jokes you make, so it is not an absolutely magic solution for getting every kind of highlight from your stream.

Beyond highlights, if your focus is on TikTok or YouTube shorts, Athenascope might not be the best tool.

While Athenascope is amazing for making clips and highlights, it doesn’t do a whole ton to help you edit/post them other places. If you want to make vertical videos, or automatically upload to Tiktok or YouTube shorts, Athenascope won’t get you there.

One struggle with Athenascope is that the clips it makes are not twitch clips.

Athenascope makes clips on its own website, which is totally fine if you want to make classic YouTube highlight videos, but not as helpful if you want to go other platforms.

Tools like Clipbot, Combo, Crossclip, and Streamladder all pull your clips from Twitch to help you edit them quickly for TikTok and YouTube.

But if you rely on Athenascope for your clips, they won’t be on Twitch, which means you won’t be able to use those easy editing tools to get on Tiktok/YouTube.

Is there a different way to clip?

If you want all your clips on Twitch for easy editing/uploading, and you want to be able to clip the funny moments and not just the hype moments, Clipbot.tv might be the right tool for you.

Clipbot gives you a “Clip Hotkey” - when you press the button, it takes a clip of the last 30 seconds on Twitch. So if you make a good joke, do something super cringe, or just get some great kills, you’re just a button away from an awesome clip that will get magically uploaded to TikTok and YouTube!
